Overview

The event aims to facilitate an in-depth discussion on the crucial role of leaks in uncovering covert activities, focusing on issues ranging from illicit financial flows like tax evasion and corruption to ethically questionable practices such as tax avoidance and undisclosed conflicts of interest among public officials. The first session delves into how leaks shed light on these malpractices and the roles of professionals like lawyers and accountants, while also highlighting the symbiotic relationship between investigative journalism and legal processes. The second session addresses the challenges and opportunities of translating leaked information into legal actions, emphasizing how prosecutors can leverage such revelations in investigations and legal proceedings. A central objective is to foster collaboration between investigative journalists and legal practitioners, bridging the gap between exposing wrongdoings and pursuing justice. By facilitating dialogue and synergy, the event aims to highlight the importance of transparency, accountability, and the pursuit of democratic values in compliance with fundamental rights.
